Plant Maintenance Assistant

Position Summary

Performs routine building/grounds/equipment maintenance and preservation functions. Ensures all areas inside and outside the building are neat, clean and in “Visitor Ready” condition at all times.

Key Position Responsibilities

• Cleans all facility restrooms and cafeterias daily, and offices as required.

• Ensures basic facility upkeep, including, but not limited to, ensuring restrooms and kitchens are stocked with necessary supplies; dusting, cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming; emptying paper shredders; replenishing water cooler bottles, vending machine and coffee machine supplies.

• Ensures basic grounds upkeep, including, but not limited to, keeping entrances to the building, parking lot, flower beds, lawns, wooded areas, free from visible debris, and neat and clean; removes snow near entrances and exits; salts and sands walkways as required.

• Indentifies and recommends building and grounds improvements and enhancements.

• Performs and documents equipment preventive maintenance using a computer-based system.

• Routinely inspects and ensures facility emergency equipment is running safely and in accordance with specified parameters (emergency lights, emergency exits, etc).

• Removes potential safety hazards to avoid injuries, and escalates any potential hazard.

• Distributes production floor smocks, and arranges cleaning.

• Performs other special projects as directed by supervisor.

Education and Experience

Required

HS diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year of college or trade school; and 2 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid & clean New York State driver’s license (no violations, no points) is required. Due to insurance requirements, must be a minimum of 25 years of age. Must be capable of driving Central’s company van to run errands locally.

Preferred

Two years plus hands on interior and exterior plant maintenance experience, experience with equipment repair/preventive maintenance, and experience with ISO9001:2008 are all preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; and communicate with others. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to dress in cleanroom attire to perform the scheduled maintenance of the cleanroom. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
